LOCATION: Christie's, South Kensington
Following on the success of tightly focused sales such as "Out of the Ordinary,"which offered buyers items ranging from fossilized prehistoric animal skeletons to a giant robot from the 1950s, Christie's will hold an auction in South Kensington on January 16th devoted to "The Art of Food and Drink," with an eclectic selection of offerings ranging in estimate from £400 to £60,000 ($650 to $98,000)."The sale offers everything from still lifes by Old Masters to iconic posters advertising famous brands, fossilized crustaceans, early tea canisters, Picasso ceramics and early recipe books," says Nicolas Martineau, head of the sale.
